The aim of Digital Rights is to protect human rights on Internet by securing that individuals receive the level of protection, which is ensured in the physical world. Digital Rights believe that the current policy development potentially undermines human rights, especially in the field of freedom of expression and privacy.

Digital Rights work to protect human rights on Internet by:

  • Raising public awareness on rights in the digital world thereby contributing to a stronger global awareness on these issues.
  • Helping policy-makers get a better understanding of the potentials and threats related to online rights issues such as privacy, freedom of expression, encryption, filtering software, work-place surveillance etc.
  • Conducting studies and projects, which contribute to greater knowledge on potentials and treats related to digital rights
  • Monitoring legislation and policy, which affects the protection of human rights on Internet
